Georgia Veterinary Specialists began as a private specialty referral practice in 1995 with the same goal you have: to provide the best care possible for pets, ensuring optimal outcomes to facilitate a longer and healthier life. By offering a full complement of multi-disciplinary specialists and diagnostics, GVS can expand the scope of your practice.
In so doing, we have expanded our services, technology, and staff over the years to reflect the advances in veterinary medicine. Recently, GVS opened a satellite facility in Gwinnett and is seeing specialty referrals by appointment Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm.
Nick Berryessa ,DVM, ACVIM
Internal Medicine
Nicolas Berryessa joined the GVS Internal Medicine service in 2008 from Iowa State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, where he served as a clinical instructor in small animal internal medicine. He grew up on the West Coast and received his undergraduate degree from the University of California Davis, but moved to the East Coast where he obtained his DVM from Cornell University. He and his wife Jennifer Parkes (a neurologist at GVS) met while completing their internships at GVS. They both pursued their respective residencies, his back at UC Davis, and returned to practice at GVS. Dr. Berryessa’s habit of drinking copious amounts of coffee probably came about as a result of many late nights spent researching infectious diseases and immune-mediated disorders. To relax, he likes to exercise, watch movies and spend time with his wife and daughter.
