We
know that your pet is an important part of your family. We also know that you
want them to have the best in veterinary care. And that's why we're here.

Georgia Veterinary Specialists is a
multi-specialty referral practice and 24-hour emergency facility committed to
providing the highest quality veterinary care for your pets. The GVS
team of board-certified specialists works in collaboration with primary care
veterinarians throughout Metro Atlanta and surrounding communities to diagnose
and treat complex, challenging, and often life-threatening pet health
problems. Veterinary specialists undergo four years of advanced training
following the completion of their veterinary medical doctoral degree. This
training includes an internship as well as a residency, typically in an
academic environment or large specialty hospital. The doctors then complete
rigorous qualification procedures and examinations by their specialty examining
board in order to be called "board-certified specialists." It is
this experience, combined with our range of specialists and our
state-of-the-art facility, that allow us to focus on the goal we share
with you and your veterinarian -- enabling your pet to live a longer and
healthier life.

Coco
Coco Varrone is more than a special pet. This Golden Retriever is her owner’s constant comfort and helper. Coco came into Susan Varrone’s life to listen. Susan is hearing impaired and epileptic. Coco is trained to let Susan know if someone is at the door, to investigate an unusual noise, to stay with Susan when she is not feeling well. When Coco spent many days at GVS gravely ill from suspected poisoning, Susan was faced with thinking about a life without her companion. Susan also had to find a way to effectively communicate with the GVS staff. Through the help of GVS Client Services Manager, Lea Custer, who is fluent in American Sign Language, Susan was able to navigate through some tough days. Fortunately, so did Coco. She made an amazing recovery few professionals expected, and is happy to be of service once again with her beloved family.
